Used a variety of stamps to make a realistic-looking fly. No reference photo used, but I drew a realistic fly a year ago so I've studied roughly what they look like. No music or sound, so feel free to play whatever you like while watching.
It’s been just over 18 months since we first released Oculus Medium, and we’ve been blown away by the community that’s formed around this immersive sculpting tool. We’ve seen people express their creativity in new ways and professionals successfully incorporate it into their production pipelines, with Mashable going so far as to declare VR “the artists' tool of the future—no programming skills needed.” Today, we’re exciting to announce our biggest update yet—Medium 2.0! 🤍
Another surprise for us at Comic-Con was running into the team at Oculus, demoing their Touch controllers and the Oculus Medium virtual reality sculpting tool at the DC Comics booth. We chat with Medium's project lead about how it's changed, and learn how artists are beta testing it in their creative workflows. It's timelapse time, today I created a red panda in oculus medium, a VR sculpting tool, which is still very new to me. Sorry for the very shaky camera, have to find a better way to record in VR. I've been experimenting with Virtual Reality and specifically trying new production tools that can be used used in Mixed Reality shoots, Virtual Production shoots, and Virtual Cinematography. Oculus Rift - 🤍 Oculus Medium - 🤍 I recently bought an Oculus Rift and the first program I tried is called Oculus Medium. It's basically an environment that allows you to create 3D scenes using pre built shapes. You can then color them and view them in 3D in VR. I can see Oculus Medium being used to design virtual sets and view them in VR at the same time. These sets would then be used in a virtual production environments with real people / live action. I believe that Virtual Production will play a big part of the future of filmmaking and I'll be setting up a Mixed Reality and VP environment in my studio this year. Cheers, Matt
Just a test of the software and streaming options in it. I think I need more RAM. :) It didn't save audio, so there's a few things I'd like to notate that was said: 1: A transparency option so I can see through a layer to a second layer, or have several layers visible but 1/2 transparent. This would allow seeing how close one is to another. 2: Scale brush size with distance. The Smooth brush does this, but none of the others do. 3: Intensity setting: adjust the strength of the brush so it puts down less material when the button is squeezed. 4: Falloff: More in the center of the brush, less towards the edge. I was having an issue with the Inflate brush: whenever I used it in certain parts it would effect the whole model or a large area around the spot I was working instead of just where I was using it. Some times it would just smooth the model instead of inflating it. (I'd rather use inflate than the clay brush for raising the surface. )
Oculus Medium is a powerful VR based Sculpting tool made by the Oculus Medium team based in San Francisco. It is an incredibly easy program to learn but as with most creative software, it takes a long time to master it. This list of tips will help you understand how I use Oculus Medium and explain some good workflow tweaks and techniques. Last month at Monsterpalooza, Oculus Medium wowed attendees with live VR sculpting performances and a series of 3D prints to bring some of our favorite creatures into the real world. The event's highlight was an impressive collaborative showpiece featuring concept art by Carlos Huante, modeling by our very own Gio Nakpil, 3D printing by Christopher Dombos of Arcane Visionaries, and detailed painting by Tim Gore. Today, we're excited to unveil Making the Monster, a behind-the-scenes documentary that details how this team of four VFX legends incorporated Oculus Medium into their workflow to bring a shared creative vision to life. 🤍
For a few days I was wondering how to setup a turntable in Oculus Medium to show off your creations. I had seen a few people do it on YouTube so I knew it could be done! In this video I go through the process of setting up a turntable in Oculus Medium. Homepage: 🤍
In a recent project I created a scene that was started in Oculus Medium and then taken into Cinema4D to be rendered using RedShift and then painted over in Photoshop. I decided to make a video going over my workflow. It's not so much a Medium tutorial as it is a medium workflow tutorial i.e. just a quick workflow overview where I talk about the pros and cons of Oculus Medium as well as comparing different render engines for best results. Industrial Punk using the Oculus Rift with a FREE app called Medium, created by Oculus. An amazing app that lets you sculpt and paint on clay in 3D space. In this video I use a 3D hand stamp as a starting point and then a range of tools in VR to sculpt the hand. Then using the paint spray to put colour onto the 3D model.
